How do I search my ChatGPT conversation history?

Open Search in the ChatGPT sidebar, or use Ctrl+K on Windows or Cmd+K on macOS. Search for words from the chat title or messages. Archived chats are searchable; deleted chats cannot be recovered through search. Check the correct account and workspace, then archives under Settings > Data controls. See OpenAI's chat search guide.

How do I search my Claude conversation history?

On paid Claude plans, when Search and reference chats is enabled, ask Claude to find what you discussed about a topic. It can search chats outside projects; searches inside a project stay within that project. Incognito chats are excluded. See Anthropic's past-chat search guide.

When a reviewed thredly handover helps

Keep the original transcript or export for the full record. thredly creates a draft summary from text you supply; review it, then manually copy the relevant context into your next conversation.

Use thredly after locating the source chat: supply the relevant conversation text, review the draft summary, and manually paste it into the next chat. Keep your original transcript separately. Free and subscription summaries have limited retention: Free 24 hours, Starter and Pro 7 days, Ultimate 30 days. The free offer is one summary per account for 5,000–500,000 characters of conversation text, with no card required. Check your account's allowance and the current pricing and retention details before relying on stored summaries.
