Long-form stories accumulate discarded versions, exploratory passages, and finished plot points. A summary should make clear what is canon for the next session and what has been superseded.
A native story export and a text copy preserve different things. NovelAI documents .story and .scenario files with settings, Memory, Author's Note, Lorebook entries and the used AI module. A .story retains retry history; a .scenario turns the story text into one prompt. A plain-text copy is useful for reading or summarizing but is not an equivalent native backup.
