How to export your Claude chat history

If you're looking to export your Claude chat history, you'll quickly discover there's no one-click bulk export. Anthropic hasn't built a download-all-conversations feature. But there are several practical ways to get your conversations out.

Start free on Chrome

Methods for exporting Claude conversations

  • Manual copy: open the conversation, select all text, paste into Google Docs, Notion, or Obsidian.
  • Print to PDF: Ctrl/Cmd+P → Save as PDF. Creates a clean, shareable record.
  • SaveMyPhind extension: open-source Chrome extension that exports Claude conversations to Markdown.
  • Claude Projects: not an export, but structured persistent storage for ongoing work with files you've uploaded downloadable individually.

Does Claude have a bulk export?

  • As of 2026, Claude doesn't offer a direct bulk data export. OpenAI lets you download all ChatGPT conversations as a ZIP from Settings. Claude doesn't have an equivalent.
  • You can submit a data subject access request to Anthropic under GDPR or similar privacy law to receive your data, but this is a legal route rather than a self-service export.

One-click summaries with thredly

  • If Anthropic never adds a bulk export, the next best thing is to capture the threads you actually care about as structured summaries. thredly is a Chrome extension that adds a Summarize button inside Claude (and ChatGPT and DeepSeek). One click stores a clean summary to your account, private to you and ready to reuse.
